About Me:

Julia was born on September 21, 2000, in São Paulo, Brazil. Raised by two bariatric surgeons, the medical field had a strong influence on her early life so much so that until the age of 13, she was certain she wanted to become a doctor.

She attended a British private school from the age of 3 to 15, which made her fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. At 15, Julia made the life-changing decision to move to the United States, completing her junior and senior years at a boarding school in Broward County, Florida.

It was during this time that art began to play a more central role in her life. She started creating a portfolio, drawing inspiration from her fascination with abandoned places.

When it came time to choose a college, Julia enrolled at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Throughout her years there, her focus shifted inward. She began to explore how she perceived her body and why becoming particularly interested in the concept of repetition. Art became a form of therapy, a way to desensitize and process sensitive subjects through repeated imagery and ideas.

After completing her undergraduate degree, Julia continued her artistic journey at the University of Miami, where she is pursuing an MFA. Her work there has focused on the objectification of the female body, culminating in a powerful body of work titled Eat Me. Through this series, Julia investigates the ways in which women’s bodies are sexualized and commodified, using personal experience, historical references, and visual fragmentation to challenge and reclaim narrative.
